VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Writespace is looking to expand our volunteer team! If you would like to connect with the broader Houston writing community, volunteering at Writespace is a fantastic way to do so.
We are looking to fill the following positions:
Social Media Team Member - Instagram | Applications due by July 17th!
Get Published Party Team Member | Applications due by September 3rd!
Processing Harvey Through Writing Team Member | Applications due by August 10th!

We are looking to fill the following positions:
Social Media Team Member - Instagram | Applications due by July 17th!
- Tasks involve updating Writespace's Instagram feed once a day, finding and developing content for the Instagram page, and promoting Writespace's workshops and literary events.
- Interested applicants must be able to attend mandatory training meeting on Saturday, July 21st, from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
- Social media team members must be able to volunteer between two and four hours per week. Team meets the third Saturday of each month from 4:30-6:00 p.m., with 2 hours of remote work per week outside of meetings.
- Candidates must be willing and able to commit to the position for 6 months, beginning in mid-August.
Get Published Party Team Member | Applications due by September 3rd!
- Tasks involve promoting Writespace's monthly Get Published Parties, including aiding online and social media promotion, developing party programming, and attending the monthly parties.
- Interested applicants must be able to attend mandatory training meeting on Saturday, September 8th, from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.
- Get Published Party Promotional Team members must be able to volunteer between one and three hours per week. Team meets the every other month at 3 PM, before the scheduled Get Published Party.
- Candidates must be willing and able to commit to the position for 6 months, beginning in mid-September.
Processing Harvey Through Writing Team Member | Applications due by August 10th!
- Tasks involve promoting Writespace's Processing Harvey Through Writing workshops and open mic and participating at one, two or three of the following event dates:
- Writing workshop held Saturday, August 25, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
- Writing workshop held Saturday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Healing from Harvey open mic held Saturday, September 29th (tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m.)
- Team members need to be able to commit to volunteering remotely or in-person between one and three hours per week.
- Team members need to be able to commit to assisting through September.
