Through exploring your own manuscripts, the work of published authors, and class exercises, this course will explore casting, plotting, and developing the stories that keep us up at night. We will discuss how to flesh-out fully realized characters. We will work on creating believable (as opposed to realistic) situations in which to drop those hapless characters. And we will learn more about the suspense of mystery and the mystery of suspense. Though it is not necessary to be in the process of writing a mystery, if you are, participants are invited to submit the first 2000 words of a manuscript for review. Please come to class prepared to engage fully in discussion and willing to share your work with the class.
