      In this course, we will work on practical approaches to some of the basic elements of fiction—such as plot, structure, character, style, point of view, and revision—with an emphasis on the short story form. This will include short video lectures and private Facebook group discussions on various elements of craft, plus weekly writing exercises and online commentary (workshop) on each other's work. The goal is to write and/or revise one complete story and build up the momentum and skill base you need to continue writing well after the course ends. While we will focus on short stories, the course also serves as an introduction to the elements of fiction that every novelist will need to know. Expect a time commitment of at least three hours a week. All levels welcome.
