     You have a story to tell, but if it involves magic, the supernatural, or walks the edge of science and time, it is going to come with unique challenges and opportunities. It can be difficult to write believable speculative fiction that controls its fantastic elements rather than causes its readers to get lost in them. In this workshop, we will examine the basic elements of craft essential to writing all fiction and also address the concerns unique to the sci-fi and fantasy genres. All experience levels are welcome. You will be asked to read provided texts, complete short writing prompts, and comment on the work of fellow participants. The workshop will culminate in the writing of a complete short story. Bring pen, paper, and a desire to write bold stories that swell beyond the confines of the mundane.
