What would it mean to tell a story, to tell a story only you can tell, and to tell it in your own voice? Whether you write stories or songs or poems or plays, this weeklong workshop will help you answer that question. The process of finding our voices as writers requires playfulness. Writing exercises designed to stretch our imaginations will help us unleash our creativity. Each day, we’ll turn our attention to a different kind and style of writing, trying out everything from sonnets and haikus to our very own horror or fantasy stories. Topics such as publication, revision, and finding mentors will be addressed. Whatever we do, the innovative and supportive nature of the workshop will quickly make us into a community of writers. At the end of the week, we’ll celebrate that community and all we’ve accomplished at a reading for family and friends.
This workshop is supported by a generous grant from Poets & Writers, Inc.
