Here is what people are saying about us on Facebook:
“The space is quiet and cozy and welcoming, and I appreciated having individual tables and lights and plugs (always hard to find at a coffeeshop!). I like the feel of being in a real creative space with other people, writers as well as artists and craftsmen in the other studios, who are dedicated to their work.”
"This was a wonderful, cool and serene space. Aside from the occasional train whistle, which I didn't mind, it was bliss. Thank you!"
"Great place for writers and to learn more about writing. The space is new, nice, and the workshops are fun, informative and dynamic! Highly recommend."
"Writespace has renewed the belief in myself that I am supposed to be writing. I find that it's so important that we writers commune and learn from one another and to seek that necessary escape to hear the voices in our head asking to be heard. Writespace is that place. I've probably written more in 4 months of attending the write-ins/outs, and FANTASTIC workshops than I have written the last 10 years. Thank you Writespace for all that you've done and all that you will continue to do for us!"

"What an opportunity for Houston area readers and writers to share ideas and learn new writing techniques. Excellent instruction from published writers and proven academics. It's an idea 'whose time has come!'"

Here is what writers are saying about us on Yelp:
"I'm a beginner writer. Finding Writespace was a blessing. Not only am I getting the help that I need, I'm getting personal attention. Highly recommend for any writer at any stage."
"As an aspiring novelist, I was so excited when Writespace Houston opened at the beginning of the summer! So far I have taken three of their Saturday afternoon workshops and one of their six week workshops, and I was really pleased with my experiences. All of their teachers are very experienced writers, most are published, and some teach at the University of Houston as well. The afternoon workshops are especially good value for the money, some only costing $30. The longer workshops are also great because you get to connect with a group of writers under the mentorship of the teacher. The topics range from publishing to manuscript development to revision. If you live in the Houston area and are learning how to write creatively in any genre, I'd definitely recommend giving Writespace Houston a try!"
"Writespace has become a wonderful resource for me as a writer, and I love watching it grow. Probably my favorite thing about Writespace is that it seeks to cater to more specific needs of Houston area writers. For example, there are classes that are geared toward specific genres such as horror, YA lit, etc. There are classes that focus on style, polishing your manuscript, finding an agent, etc. It's nice to take a class with a more specific focus (rather than something more general where it can be frustrating to get feedback from classmates who have no interest in your genre). The instructors have been great, and they are experienced writers who really know their stuff about the various aspects of writing and publishing (in part because many of them are published).
Also, as a teacher with a very hectic schedule and living a bit outside of city limits, weekly classes in person aren't always ideal for me, but Writespace offers online courses as well as weekend courses to round out their weekly classes. I've been to several of the weekend classes, and they've all been top notch! I like that with my busy schedule, a weekend course is an easy commitment, and at the prices the classes are currently, I really feel I'm getting my money's worth and then some (a huge deal on a teacher salary!). I also tried out an online course (first time to ever try one since they were a very new thing when I was still in college and not offered for my area of study), and I was very pleased with the quality of the class.”
"I'm someone who aspires to be a writer but doesn't have a clue as to how to go about it. In my searching for a clue I came across Writespace. Ever since then I have been taking all the workshops I can and I have to say that it has truly been an inspiring experience.
Writespace provides a nurturing atmosphere for all levels from the curious neophyte to those who want to be rich and famous (me). The workshops and instructors are some of the best Houston has to offer.
Here's an example: the workshop I attended last week was entitled "Following your Dream: Writing, Publishing, and Promotion". (Isn't that just the greatest title.) The title is very appropriate because that is exactly how the instructor got to be an award-winning, bestselling author. Pamela Fagan Hutchins gave up her corporate day job as a workplace investigator and employment attorney because she became so successful at self-publishing her own writing. She is a leading authority in the self-publishing field and some of the best selling authors from tradition publishers have sought her advice.
But here is the kicker: for this up close and personal three hour workshop Writespace only charged $15. You can not beat that. Let me assure you that Writespace's instructors only get better from here. Collectively they possess a full array of knowledge gained from MFA degrees and college teaching credentials that they can't wait to share with you. Hope to see you at Writespace some day."
Here is what people are saying about us in thank you notes:
"I know it's been a minute, but I just wanted to officially thank you for your work at Writespace. When I first started writing there last summer it had been months since I'd written anything new and I was starting to wonder if I had anything left to say. But your wonderful space helped me find my voice again, and ultimately regain my focus.
The piece I wrote inside Writespace's walls ended up in my MFA application samples. I'm so excited to tell you I'll be working on an MFA in Fiction at ** College and State in ** this fall. I move in a couple of months and I'm so excited and ready for what's next! I really wanted you to know how big of a role Writespace and you played in my life. I don't know when I would have taken the time to write otherwise. THANK YOU and keep up all your good work."
