Katherine McDaniel
Katherine McDaniel is the founder and editor of the literary and visual arts magazine and arts incubator Synkroniciti. She is a classically trained opera singer and a twenty-year veteran of the acclaimed Houston Grand Opera Chorus. She taught voice lessons for singers for twenty years. She also teaches faerie garden, flower tiara and wreath-making playdates, which are designed to inspire and exercise creativity.
In 2012, Katherine had three poems commissioned by Houston Grand Opera for Houston Artists Respond, part of the Home and Place Initiative. Nubia’s Shoes, Yo soy un Corazòn and Drumming were inspired by videos of senior adults at Baker Ripley Community Center in Houston. The poems tell the stories of Latin American women who immigrated to the United States. She has been published in Gleam: Journal of the Cadralor and often reads her poetry at Archway Gallery’s monthly readings.
