This here blog, Writespace:WriteTime, was started about four months ago, and in it we've covered anything from Writespace news, literary events around town, writing advice, Writespace faculty interviews, and authors' personal essays. We feature a variety of voices, spanning the range from previously unpublished volunteers to prominent Houston authors, editors, and other cultural arts leaders. We've loved seeing the blog grow, and we hope you have, too.
In the spirit of featuring as many of Houston's writer voices as possible, we've decided to open the blog to submissions from the general public: this means you! We'd love to offer you a platform to tell our readers about your experience at a literary event, introduce your writing group, interview an author or editor you admire, or share your thoughts or advice on the craft of writing.
If you feel like you have an idea for a post that would fit with our overall mission, please send me your pitches at email@example.com.

BLOG SUBMISSIONS FAQ
WHAT KIND OF WORK DO YOU PUBLISH ON THE BLOG?
We are looking for blog posts which fall into the following categories:
1. Reviews of Houston Literary Events: We are looking for blog contributors who can attend Houston literary events, readings, and workshops and then review them for our blog. See our archives for examples of these posts. We love anything local and literary – with very few limitations. Not sure if the event you want to attend qualifies? Send us an email. We prefer to post these types of reviews within one week after the event.
2. Craft Articles: We are looking for posts on writing which focus on developing the craft of creative writing and provide advice for new writers. We’re interested in creative nonfiction pieces that focus on the day-to-day lives of writers. We also publish prompts for any genre.
3. Interviews: We are looking for blog contributors who are interested in interviewing local authors and literary leaders. Do you have a writer you’d love to interview? Preferably one that is based in Houston? Send us your idea.
HOW DO I SUBMIT AN ARTICLE OR IDEA?
Please email our blog moderator, Layla Al-Bedawi (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your article or ideas. We prefer articles which are ready for publication, but will consider pitches for posts. When pitching an idea, please include a 250-500 word synopsis
WHAT IS YOUR BLOG PUBLICATION SCHEDULE? CAN I REUSE MY ARTICLE?
Our blog moderator will work with you to choose the right date for publication of your article. Feel free to re-post your article on your own blog or website, but please state that it was first published on our blog, and include a link to the original post
HOW WILL MY POST BE CREDITED?
If you would like us to include a short bio with your post, please include it in your initial email/pitch to us. Otherwise the post will say, "Guest post by [your name]".
WILL YOU PROMOTE MY EVENT/WEBSITE/ORGANIZATION?
Maybe. This is at the discretion of our blog moderator. If you think we will be interested you can email us, but know that we only publish writing-related articles.
